Our Hotel is located in Cortona, on a hill with a stunning views on the “Val di Chiana”, lake Trasimeno, and mount Amiata. The city of Cortona is characterized by its steep streets, paved with huge slabs and by ancient buildings: “Piazza della Repubblica”, the principal square with the town hall and the nearby “Palazzo Pretorio” in which is located he MAEC (Estruscan Academy of Cortona City) Museum.
The MAEC became one of the most important museum in italy for the “Ertruscan Chandelier” (5th century BC), the muse “Polymnia” and the “Tabula Cortonensis” very rare example of etruscan writings. The “Museo Diocesano”, located opposite to the Cathedral, shows masterpieces by great artists such as “L’annunciazione” of Beato Angelico and other works by important tuscan artist such as Luca Signorelli.

Events in Cortona
Every year take place in Cortona a series of cultural events. The most important one is “La GIostra dell’Archidado” an historical event in which is remembered the marriage between the Lord of Cortona, Francesco Casali and Lady Antonia dei Salimbeni di Siena. The cultural exhibition, with parades, dances and the characteristic “Colata dei Ceri”, ends on the last sunday of may with the historical “Giostra” and its crossbows. Between late august and early September is set up in the beautiful eighteenth century “Palazzo Cagnotti” the National Exhibition of Antique Furniture. Tourists of all over the world come to see this exhibition aimed to enhance the cultural, artistic and enviromental characteristics of the city of Cortona.
In 2012 Cortona became the location of the first edition of “Mix Festival” an event organized by Feltrinelli Group and the City of Cortona to celebrate the mix of arts with poetry, music, dance performances, architecture, gastronomy and theatre.
At the turn of the last week of July and first of August a nine days event is organized to delight citizens and tourists in the warm evenings of summer.
